Ep. 118 Hope, Spiralic Healing, & Energy Medicine for Chronic Illness with Cari Nadeau

In the intro, I share a personal check-in and insights, astral influences this month so far, and how to support ourselves by tending to our energetic ecologies and bodies.

So much that manifests as physical symptoms or ailments have their origins in the energy body. All ancient healing traditions include energy medicine in one form or another, in my experience, when there is chronic illness present - we MUST look to its energetic influences.

In this episode, we’re speaking with Cari Nadeau, a Certified EFT Practitioner and a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner. Cari shares how she went from bedridden from Lyme disease to thriving energy medicine practitioner. We talk about Cari’s journey with psychiatric medication, withdrawal from psychiatric medication, major depression and top resources Cari found for mental health support. We discuss how to remove trapped emotions, and the “masterpiece combo” that Cari uses to move through big negative patterns or stuck energies.

Cari also shares the top beliefs that Cari identified were holding her back and keeping her sick, her spiralic healing journey, how it was “ugly,” what her “relapses” looked like, and what she did to move thru them. In the end, we share Cari’s favorite resources and books to get people started with energy healing, including a free gift - link is in the shownotes!

Ep. 112 Honoring the Medicine of Hibernation & Surrendering to Changing Tides with Linda García aka Luz Warrior

In this episode, we’re speaking with Linda García aka Luz Warrior on what it looks like to honor the medicine of hibernation and surrender to the changing tides of life... and doing so in a world that pushes against it. Linda tells us the story behind “Luz Warrior” and the Let There Be Luz podcast, and her struggles and trauma in earlier years. Linda shares how she transitioned from commercial storytelling in film, tv and radio to storytelling for wellness, her process of coming out of the “spiritual closet” and making conscious development teachings more accessible to her community.

Linda also talks about the biggest challenges that she has faced in her transition and what following the intuitive path looks like for her, plus the dragons she has slayed along the way in stepping into her truth and breaking through victim mentality.

Linda gives so much beautiful advice for those of us in the contraction phase in our path, and how to honor the ebbs just as much as the flows.

As the final interview of 2019 and this decade, I couldn’t have imagined a better conversation to close out the energy of this past decade and honor where it is that we are going together as a collective - toward a way of living that honors our rhythms and cycles on a massive scale.

THANK YOU for being YOU and your contribution to your own growth + supporting the greater global community. ♥️

Ep. 109 Plantcestors, People, Place :: Growing Ancestral Food as Medicine & Community Connection with Brandon Ruiz

Brandon Ruiz is a community herbalist and urban farmer living in Charlotte, NC. He owns Atabey Choreto Medicinals, directs the CLT Herbal Accessibility Project and spends his time working in urban gardens, making medicine and working with his community. Brandon works mainly with plants of the tropics, specifically from the Caribbean and Borikén (Puerto Rico), his ancestral homeland.

In this interview, Brandon shares his plant path starting with a remedy from his grandmother that saved him from surgery. We discuss how he mingles herbal medicine with herbal history and herb cultivation, and also with community activism - looking at the elements we need to cultivate a community movement.

Brandon shares how he started a community garden project and how connection to plants can bring people together, why he began growing plants for food with ancestral connection, and the importance of growing your own food to connect with your ancestors. We talk about the challenges of tracking ancestral history and lineages for BIPOC, and bias in genetic testing. Happy new moon! Venessa and Megan talk about how this new moon in Sagittarius houses a beautiful energy to reflect on recent themes before Eclipse season arrives, invitations for working with our root chakra, and adapting to change. We discuss the importance of working with our bodies and mining our thoughts, and ways to support our internal fires so we don’t burn out.

We share some of what we’ve been working on to support our root and allow more flow (i.e. are you holding your pee too?) such as honoring our body’s rhythms, self massage and twerking as medicine. We explore some of our fave moistening and circulatory foods & herbs to support the flow of that heat related to weakened or imbalanced Sagittarius fire.

Ep. 103 Thus Spoke The Plant :: Exploring Plant Cognition & The “Real Plant Revolution” with Monica Gagliano

>> SUBSCRIBE :: Sign up for newsletter to receive updates on upcoming programs and events

*Due to Monica’s location in nature at her home in Australia, the internet connection gets disrupted at certain points in the conversation - while we did our best to make the audio sound better at certain points, we apologize for the quality and encourage you to continue listening as she has so many amazing things to say

In her book Thus Spoke The Plant, a “phytobiography”– or a collection of stories written in partnership with a plant –research scientist Monica Gagliano reveals the dynamic role plants play in genuine first-hand accounts from her research into plant communication and cognition. By transcending the view of plants as the objects of scientific materialism, Gagliano encourages us to rethink plants as people–beings with subjectivity, consciousness, and volition, and hence having the capacity for their own perspectives and voices.

Monica’s research aims at expanding our perception of animals, plants and more generally Nature. In the process of learning how to do this, Monica has pioneered the brand-new research field of plant bioacoustics and extended the concept of cognition to plants, re-igniting the discourse on plant subjectivity, sentience and ethical standing.

In this interview, Monica shares about how an ethical crisis was the seed that changed the course of Monica’s career and led to her working with plants and writing her book. We talk about the collective “plant blindness” and Monica shares how resistant and scared she was to change.

We talk about Trust as one of the biggest lessons Monica has and continues to learn through this work, and Monica’s explanation of “personhood” with regards to plants, and thus the legality of the natural world. Monica shares what the “real plant revolution” is and its many implications... plus lots of talk on top issues capturing Monica’s attention: GMOs, Cannabis, and the appropriation of potent medicinal plants on a larger scale.

Stick to the end to hear Monica’s request for your support and how you can help her mission to protect and restore the ecologies of the Earth!

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • How an ethical crisis was the seed that changed the course of Monica’s career and led to her working with plants and writing her book

  • How being let go from her job, living off of little income and entering more challenging times and emotions ushered her into a deeper journey with plants and her mission to advocate for them

  • Monica explains “plant blindness” and shares how resistant and scared she was to change

  • How Trust is one of the biggest lessons Monica has and continues to learn through this work

  • How Monica communicates with plants and “hears” their messages, and the evolution of her relationship to them

  • Monica’s explanation of “personhood” with regards to plants, and the origins of the word “person”, the concept of masks and personas, and the problems with anthropomorphizing plants

  • The legality of the natural world, how plants are agents that have their own interests, and the cloudy legalities around the rights of plants and nature

  • The wishful thinking of the name Homo sapiens and the false “othering” between humans and nature

  • The “real plant revolution” and its implications: an evolutionary process into a “new old” human

  • The importance of Imagination, and the collective point of tension we are experiencing before the bow releases the arrow

  • The top issues that are capturing Monica’s attention: GMOs, Cannabis, and the decriminalization + appropriation of potent medicinal plants on a larger scale

  • Monica’s view on GMOs, how she doesn’t believe it’s founded in science and shouldn’t be funded

  • How we need to change our collective Mind before we are able to change our world

  • What Monica has received from the plants on how to “change our Mind”, and how it involves the deconstruction of the Self

  • Monica’s advice for folx midwifing ourselves into a new story and new Mind

  • Which plant is feeding her wild right now and the beautiful vision of a new grassroots project she received

  • The importance of sound and what is being discovered thru soundscape ecology and plant bioacoustics

  • How you can support Monica and her team in this new project to support the planet

  • Truth-speaking - how we often hold things in so as not to hurt others, and how this can impact our physiology

  • The conversions connection - converting our mind/heart to expressed words, converting thyroid hormones for healthy metabolism

  • The interconnections in our physical bodies and energy bodies, such as the connection between stomach (solar plexus) and thyroid (throat chakra)

  • We’re inspired to do a stomach acid “challenge” - ways to support your stomach acid this moon cycle:

    • Add in 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar to water before meals, lemon to water, pure celery juice, hydrochloric acid supplementation if needed

  • Blue/aquamarine color related to thyroid/throat chakra:

    • eat blue and sea-based foods to support the throat!

    • Foods for thyroid: sea veggies (minerals/iodine), brazil nuts (for selenium)

  • Herbs for throat: antimicrobial: thyme, sage, rosemary, honey; mucilaginous: aloe vera, marshmallow root, slippery elm, licorice,

  • Making herbal gargles to use to clear stagnation in throat (energetic + physical) to support the vocal expression of truth; Megan’s recipe: oregon grape, astragalus, garlic

  • Energetic use of herbs, i.e. Calamus (aka Sweet Flag) - has a signature for the throat (roots look like larynx), has been traditionally used to support the voice, esp for singers in Native American traditions and India/Ayurveda

Ep. 101 11:11 Personal Reflections: My Winding Career Path, Disorientation As Medicine, Biggest Lessons & Takeaways

Love this podcast? Subscribe over on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Play and never miss an episode.

Happy 11/11! In this solo episode, I was inspired to get personal and allow some intuitive sharings to come thru straight from the heart. I speak to what 11:11 means to me and talk about my career journey including things I have not shared publicly before. I talk about what I learned working in “corporate” and in an entrepreneurial setting for 10 years before I jumped ship into my own company, and my take on the “medicine of disorientation” and the unbearable feeling of “not knowing what to do next”.

I also share the biggest takeaway lessons I’ve learned over the past 15 years and what I’ve been up to lately including new & exciting things coming out in 2020! This kind of intuitively led episode was a stretch for me (I like to prepare + plan, even for the Akashic readings!) so I trust there were supportive insights reflected in my own personal journey for ya!

Today is our 100th episode (woohoo!) - thank you for being a part of this journey with the Feed Your Wild Podcast! In the intro, I’m sharing my appreciation for you the listener + opening up spots to my exclusive 90 Day Program this month (the final chance before 2020 hits!).

On today’s episode, we’re talking with Rachel Peavy. Rachel is a money healer, tarot reader and intuitive empath. She works with clients to help them cultivate an empowered relationship with money through heart-centered budget guidance that combines the soulful, the practical and the mystical.

In this lively conversation, Rachel shares how physical health challenges such as migraine, gut issues, and infertility challenges were the catalysts that led her to a major turning point in her life. We talk about how healing money stories has a ripple effect into all areas of our lives, the shame and fear around money, debt, and breaking thru blocks around money.

We dive into the shadow side of Capitalism, and Rachel shares her thoughts on the individual + collective money story, including an exploration in alternative forms of provision and economy. Of course, we share practical tips for cultivating a healthy relationship with money, abundance, and worth.
