Ep. 30 OCTOBER :: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Extracting Light From The Muck - Becoming Shadow Transformers
Art: Paper collage by Venessa Rodriguez
Solo Episode: OCTOBER 2018 :: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Extracting Light From The Muck - Becoming Shadow Transformers
About Monthly Soul Nourishment Readings: Just as I weave in spiritual nourishment from the Akashic Records for my clients along with their nutritional protocols on an individual basis, I’ve been inspired to start sharing these readings monthly in the podcast to support the collective with general monthly themed-readings... and so Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Readings were born. These readings are usually filled with metaphor & symbols, so may require a bit of unraveling & might mean something different for each person, so pay attention to what comes up for you as you listen on. Hope they provide value and moments of reflection in your journey.
The message for October is an invitation: “It’s time to allow the shadow to move with and through us so it can be transformed.”
In this Akashic reading, we are guided through lots of symbols this month! Earthworms, dark goddesses, transformative processes, and ouroboros, oh my... the synthesis of all of it:
We need the shadow transformers, become one or support their work.
If you thought we couldn’t get any deeper... well folks, this month is an invitation to go beyond the depths of what you have gone previously and get your hands dirty...
We cover various mythological and energetic principals of death and renewal - a natural process of working with your shadow, how to begin to work with and transform your own shadows, plus some of the first places to look for your shadow (hint: triggered lately?). I recommend some ideas for rituals you can implement and work with this month to take advantage of this archetypal energy, and discuss the importance of seeking support when you DIG into the muck... this is some of the most sacred work you can do!
Love this podcast? Subscribe over on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Spotify and never miss an episode.
Show Notes
In this episode, we discuss:
Earthworm burrows deep and allows the transformation of this putrid dark matter within it’s body, being a vehicle of transmutation. What’s notable is the importance of these beings for our existence and evolution - all the creatures that transform the decaying into life giving matter... they’re doing the dirty work and our world benefits.
The earthworm’s connection to snake and the symbol of ouroboros. The process of eating oneself for constant renewal. We too must do this process, do the work because shadow is coming up...
We’ll go through what feels heavy and like putrid sludge, and thru this digestive process it becomes rich life-giving soil full of nutrients and life force.
Support from the dark goddesses of death and renewal:
Kali - ancient hindu goddess of death and destruction, warrior goddess that represents darkness, death and renewal whose job was to destroy evil and rid the land of filth
Tlazolteotl, “Eater of Excrement” and of filth. An Earth and moon goddess, a purification goddess with connection to fertile earth that begins with rotting and decaying matter… She turns physical and metaphysical darkness and black waste into life
The Andean mystical concepts of sami (light energy) and hucha (heavy dense energy) and the process of extracting sami from hucha – within the darkness there is still light
The invitation we are being given to embody these dark goddesses to carry us through our individual and collective shadows
Where do you begin? One of the first places to look for shadow is wherever you have been procrastinating the most. That’s usually where we have shadow work to do. Or wherever you have some serious blocks. And of course, wherever and whenever you get triggered by something or someone.
Get curious instead of staying mad or upset or in resistance mode. Ask yourself questions. Become a detached and compassionate detective.
A big message that came through with this reading is also that we must stay humble!
The shamanistic ritual of sacred burial, an ancient tradition that has been used for many centuries for healing, renewal and transformation. It is an authentic ritual of stillness, transformation and deep communion with the spirit of the Earth.
Ideas/Tips:
Choose a dark goddess that calls to you and meditate with her, embody her essence in your own shadow work
Select an amulet or stone - a physical anchor that you can tether yourself to as you go deep with this work.
When you feel dense, heavy have your go-to en-lighten-ing practices.
It’s ok, in fact, good to wade in the darkness for periods, but we can embody earth worm.
We don’t have to remember or recall or relive actual events or moments - that actually would do more harm than good. Instead, we can use vibration and our feeling sense and imagination to identify the heaviness that we can release or transmute.
Frequency to break up heavy matter - look to sound healing, heart vibration meditations
Don’t allow the fear to drive.

Within the first few years of professional life, Emelia realized something was amiss and started to recover the passions she left behind. For over a decade, she has maintained a blog, now known as 360SOUL, concerned with matters of mind and spirit.
Emelia is also gifting FYW listeners her Soul Infusion Kit, check it out below!
Dr. Emelia Sam hails from Edmonton, Canada. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at home she moved to Washington DC to attend dental school. Two years later, she realized she pretty much hated general dentistry but felt she was too far down that particular educational path to abandon it. She ended up being drawn towards the specialty of oral & maxillofacial surgery which required a four-year residency.
Emelia has published several books including I Haven't Found Myself but I'm Still Looking and The Book of Soulgasms. Her latest book, Compassionate Competency: Healing the Heart of Healthcare represents the intersection of her experience as a practitioner with her long-time interests in personal development and spirituality.

We cover the physiology and transformative roles of the stomach and spleen on physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual levels, as well as ways to support digestion and immune function in this transitional season. Of course, we also share lots of practical tips and tools to support your health, including nutrition, plant medicine, and journal prompts to support you this new moon (including one of Megan’s favorite embodiment practices)!

Ep. 25 Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: SEPTEMBER :: Slide into Rhythms with Conscious Awareness
Solo Episode: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Sliding into September + Unseen Ecologies That Support Us
About Monthly Soul Nourishment Readings: Just as I weave in spiritual nourishment from the Akashic Records for my clients along with their nutritional protocols on an individual basis, I’ve been inspired to start sharing these readings monthly in the podcast to support the collective with general monthly themed-readings... and so Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Readings were born. These readings are usually filled with metaphor & symbols, so may require a bit of unraveling & might mean something different for each person, so pay attention to what comes up for you as you listen on. Hope they provide value and moments of reflection in your journey.
The message for September is Slide into Rhythms with Conscious Awareness
Moving with the current. Smooth sailing, on a slippery slide, the hard stone to support us and the soft growth that cushions, no apparatus but our own bodies and open hearts. Sliding down these natural stone waterslides...
This is the energy of September. TRANSITIONS. Sliding into a natural current and flow, a time of transition and movement, and being awake for it... we are called to notice and pay attention to the ecologies that support us in our journeys.
Are you resisting or enjoying the ride? The Akashic guides say resisting change is futile, so you might as well be present for the beauty and open to the medicine of joy.
Love this podcast? Subscribe over on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Spotify and never miss an episode.
Show Notes
In this episode, we discuss:
Stay awake and present. Make conscious decisions.
Be sure you make a conscious decision to slide. It can be dangerous and terrifying if you aren't “prepared” mentally, emotionally, having safety precautions in mind and excitement in heart to experience the exhilarating joy and playful experience.
There is no stopping the slide flow once it gets going. And that’s the point.
Enjoy the ride down, you can hear the laughing and joyful voices ahead of you at the bottom but you cant see them. Element of trust, anticipation, precaustion, common sense, willingness to take a risk with an open heart
Open up the senses feel the support beneath you, the way the slippery wet surface caresses your skin - feels soothing and protective, the spectacular view of the landscape, plants, insects, growth, death, cycles, LIFE as you slide down. Savor it. Be present for it. Breathe. Sliding down into the calm, steady pools below.
The unseen ecology that supports you.
What makes it slippery? What is the coating that we take for granted?
An ecology... if you look under a microscope, you would see a community of diatoms, blue-green and green algaes, amoebas, single-celled organisms, bacteria, fungi, and lots of organic matter.
We’re being called to open up all of our senses, and notice the ecosystems that are around you and support you. This is on all levels - physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically.
Physical - this is the ecology within and on your body, the organ systems, cells, cellular structures, mitochondria, and of course your microbiome.
Then there are the ecologies that are outside of you but that are still connected to you. The living beings like the community that holds you up as you slide down this natural stone. The air you breathe, food you eat, what were the ecologies that make all of that possible?
And of course, there are the nonphysical - your relationships, family constellations, thoughts and feelings, the ecology of your subconscious. And let’s not forget your guides, ancestors, angels, any nonphysical beings or energies that support you, and that we often forget are there.
Natural current of flow.

Ep. 22 The Story Our Trash Tells: Zero Waste Living with Andrea Sanders
“Our trash tells a story... a story about what we value.” ~ Andrea Sanders
What does your trash say about you, and our society at large? What if all of the waste that you accumulate throughout the year could fit inside a mason jar... what would be the impact of that on our environment and what would it mean for us in terms of how we choose to live?
These are the questions that Andrea Sanders asked herself that led her on the path as a young environmentalist grappling with the extensive ecological damage that she was witnessing... and her place in it.
I really wanted to bring in the topic of waste, consumption and the zero waste lifestyle movement, because i believe it is critical for our overall health - all beings and the planet - to look at the way we live and how we consume.
Andrea tells us how she got inspired and started on her path with zero waste living, and many of the biggest obstacles we face today. She talks about the concept of “biomindfulness” - exploring practices that help us focus our attention back on relationships we hold between ourselves and our environment. We touch on the importance of space and pause when you’re making any kind of lifestyle shift, and Andrea shares what she believes the sweet spot between the hardship of our ancestors and the ultra convenience we have today (but at the expense of the health of our planet).
Of course she also shares the practices that support the reshaping of our relationships with nature and practical steps you can take if you want to move toward a zero waste lifestyle.
There is so much here that you can hit the ground running with!
Andrea Sanders is an environmental educator, mindfulness advisor, TEDx speaker, traveler, artist, and dog mom. Her work focuses on encouraging ecological responsibility, day-to-day mindfulness, and compassionate eating through a plant-based diet. Andrea is also a zero waste influencer and educator on Instagram with a global outreach of over 80,000 followers.
Enjoy!

Why mindfulness meditation is a critical part of the work that andrea does with zero waste teachings
How pausing is the first step - why we need to create space for looking at our relationship to “stuff”
The importance of our WHY and how we have to learn how to be less distracted from the things that are pulling our attention from action
The concept of Biomindfulness - exploring practices that help us focus our attention back on relationships we hold between ourselves and our environment
The importance of space and pause when you’re making any kind of lifestyle shift
There is no right or wrong way
Simplicity is understanding our true wants and needs, and cutting through the noise from consumerism and distraction
What Andrea calls our “design problem” - and why we need to create a circular infrastructure
Practices that support the reshaping of our relationships with nature
First step is awareness that we have a problem
How to begin a zero waste lifestyle... starting with waste: Doing a trash audit. Look at what you’re going away and what can you reduce
Low hanging fruit actions:
Bringing your own bags and produce bag to grocery store

This Episode's Theme...
#UNFILTERED Moon Musings :: New Moon In Leo Solar Eclipse :: Heart Medicine & Setting Up Patterns
Megan and Venessa discuss the themes of this New Moon in Leo Solar Eclipse on August 11, 2018: Expansion, truth, solar power, consciousness, energy, embodiment of joy, pleasure, and fun - through the heartgate.
Chani Nicholas (one of our fave astrologers) says: “Eclipses, especially solar eclipses in Leo, teach us something very important about our life purpose and how to manifest it in the world. This is a time where we want to be setting the patterns that will continue to bear fruit for years to come.”
We believe the way to do this is to get aligned through the HEART. We cover the physiology and role of the heart on physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual levels, as well as ways to support your heart gate so you can embody your truest self. Of course, we also share lots of practical tips and tools to support your heart health, including nutrition, plant medicine, and journal prompts to support you this new moon!

Show Notes
In this episode, we discuss:
How to open to new patterns and set yourself up for the future way of being
How to beam, as in literally radiate using your heart
Where to align your mind and heart in order to set the patterns that will continue
The heart’s role in the body and regulator of 2 forms of circulation - systemic which carries nutrient-rich oxygenated blood to organs and body tissues; and pulmonary - moves oxygen-depleted blood from the heart to the lungs
The heart beats around 115,000 times per day every day of your life supplying life-giving substances and carrying away toxins and debris and waste from organs
The most mitochondria are found in the heart - the electromagnetic energy center of our body, creating electricity
Heart emanates thousands of times more electricity and magnetism than the brain; keeps our rhythm and can create light!
Megan’s experience with her recent spiritual work and meditations on heart space
How dropping in and attuning to your body tells you WAY more than any research study or book
How Megan was able to stop drinking after a field of wild roses told her to do so
Megan’s new fave mantra: “Medicine comes in many forms”
The heart as an organ of communication, and how you can literally feel the field of another person’s heart electromagnetism
Highly synchronized cells like those in the heart amplify what it “hears” based on what it is programmed to hear. So if it is attuned to fear, greed et, the heart will access that, vs love, compassion, etc.

Ep. 20 Navigating The Stars And Talking To Dead People: Astrology + Mediumship With Jessica Lanyadoo
“Your soul does not reside in your body, instead your body resides within your soul. The body is an articulation of the soul’s lessons.”
– Jessica Lanyadoo
In this episode, I’m excited to be speaking with Jessica Lanyadoo, an internationally respected Astrologer and Psychic Medium, who is currently the resident astrologer for Girlboss and The Hoodwitch in the US, and Chatelaine in Canada.
We talk about the reasons behind the recent explosion of astrology into mainstream and how medical astrology can help us understand how to live better in our physical body, plus tips on how to embody information received thru astrology without getting overwhelmed.
We also talk about psychic mediumship and animal communication - how Jessica discovered her intuitive gifts and what happens when we die according to her experience talking with dead people, plus how to talk to animals.
Jessica shares words of advice for people who want to support their own intuition and abilities, including the vital importance of spiritual and energetic hygiene.
This was such a fun interview, but there are a few places with some sound tech weirdness. It’s not terrible – just wanted to give you a head’s up. And yes, we recorded right at the start of Mercury retrograde because we are daredevils like that, so perhaps that’s what we get. We survived and thank goodness we did because this interview is going to blow your esoteric socks off. Enjoy!

Ep. 19 Becoming a Master of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q'ero of Peru + Andean Cosmovision with Joan Parisi Wilcox
“The art of being a paqo is to always be in conscious ayni - energetic interchange - in the cosmos of living energy. The art of being a paqo is to become an ecologist of your energy environment.” ~ Joan Parisi Wilcox, QentiWasi.com
What if you could experience "heaven on Earth," without the use of mind-altering psychotropics or disembodied experiences? The Andean mystical tradition is a pragmatic sacred tradition that teaches us how to live in this way - providing tools for living in harmony with nature and the spirit realms, with a primary goal to live with well-being in the embodied world, empower your energy body, and refine your consciousness.
Joan Parisi Wilcox has studied the tradition and spiritual arts of the Q'ero Indians of Peru, the most respected mystics of the south-central Andes, for more than twenty years under the tutelage of Juan Nuñez del Prado and has been interviewed in documentary films about the tradition. In this episode, Joan gives us an overview of the Andean cosmovision, we talk about salqa - the “undomesticated or wild” energy in relation to this cosmovision, and how to refine our energy body so that we can “push the kawsay”, or manifest with the living animating energy of the cosmos.
She shares core practices that you can use when you need them wherever and whenever, and gives insight into the importance of intention in this energy work along with her sage advice for committing to your personal evolution.
Joan provides insights into an ancient wisdom that can help those of us living in a modern society re-discover our own wild, find attunement with nature and harmony within ourselves.
Joan is a professional writer with interests in frontier science, shamanism and mysticism, and indigenous traditions. She is the author of Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q’ero of Peru as well as 2 other books. She has written dozens of magazine articles, been interviewed on radio, lectured at conferences in the US and Europe, is a transformational coach and teaches workshops across the US on the Andean mystical tradition. You can learn more about the Andean mystical tradition at her website/blog www.QentiWasi.com.

Show Notes
In this episode, we discuss:
Joan's trajectory through various traditions including spiritual church, intuition + mediumship studies, Native American and Buddhist traditions, shamanic traditions and journeying, and Andean Mystical tradition
How she was very attracted to the Andean pragmatism and practical tradition - all about being the “best human being that you could be in the human world”
Salqa - a Quechua word for the “undomesticated or wild” energy of the world
Joan gives us an overview of the Andean cosmovision and the major “belts”
Quayi lives in our belly, qosqo (navel) - the place of emotion, and how Andeans make distinction between feelings (compassion, love) and emotions (worry, happiness, jealousy, passion, etc)
Personal power and the fact that we all have the energetic, emotional, physical capacity to put our intent into action
What does “pushing the Kawsay”, the living animating energy of the cosmos, mean and how we can do it
How we can influence the world of living energy through our intent because Energy must follow intent, plus how there’s a little bit of chance, novelty and randomness that also exist in the Universe
If you don’t have “personal power” or energetic coherence, you wont be able to manifest or "push the Kawsay"
How to Cleanse our energy body plus the 3 practices to move through the levels of energy and the different levels of consciousness
Joan shares core practices that you can use when you need them wherever/whenever, including a 10 minute exercise, and talks about sami (refined vibration energy) and hucha (heavy energy)
What are ultimate goal is in this human experience, according to the Andean tradition
How anyone can do this work and Joan debunks the myth that you have to get “the ritual right”
"We’re not trying to slay the ego, we’re trying to create harmony with it."
What Joan says is the biggest "trap" at the 3rd level of consciousness
The 4th level is "global consciousness and Oneness," and how we are growing into it with growing pains - this is the level of the mystic, where you can see past the signs, boundaries, etc. You can "find God in all" aside from the human constructs
Why we never want to be in a stance of “protection” from “evil” energies or dark entities
The misconception around “energy vampires” and how “no one can enter your energy body without your invitation”
"There’s nothing that can hurt you except the fear that you project out onto energy - energy is just energy"
Manifestation laws according to the Q'ero and how “the universe will give you whatever you choose, and what you have the personal power to manifest, to move the Kawsay in that direction”
Joan’s advice for committing to your evolution and how to steer clear from “shiny object syndrome”

Ep. 17 Walking the Plant Path: Evolutionary Herbalism + the Magnetic Power of Plants as Teachers + Healers with Whitney Popham
In this episode, I’m excited to be speaking with Whitney Popham of the School of Evolutionary Herbalism. Whitney is an herbal practitioner and educator, pollinating the medicine of the plants to bring healing & beauty into the world.
We talk about her journey of self-discovery, healing and her life’s calling to the plant path. We dive deep right away into how we got to the point of disconnection from these ancient systems of medicine, and ways we can begin to reclaim that connection.
Whitney shares her own experience with healing trauma by building relationships with plants and their medicine on all levels, and provides us with a beginner’s roadmap to using botanicals for supporting the nervous system and the heart.
As a clinical herbalist, Whitney has devoted her life to being a humble vessel for the plants to touch people's lives and do their healing work through her. She facilitates healing on the emotional, spiritual, and physical levels of health through the multifaceted lens of plant medicine, nutrition and Ayurvedic lifestyle coaching.
Whitney is the co-founder of The School of Evolutionary Herbalism, where her and her husband Sajah have trained & empowered tens of thousands of people to become herbalists & practitioners. Through their online programs & live workshops, they share wisdom from multiple medical traditions from around the world to continue the legacy of bringing healing to people, culture and planet.
This was such a rich discussion, Whitney really touches on so many critical topics that I’ve been thinking a lot about over the years and try to highlight in this podcast. Lots of food for thought, and I hope you enjoy our exploration of the magical and magnetic power of plants as teachers and healers.
*Note from Whitney: Since we discuss using botanicals and harvesting plants ourselves, it’s important to note that before you harvest or make medicine from any herb, it’s imperative that you’ve first properly identified that plant before you ingest it or give it to anyone else. Learning some basic botany, getting a good ID book, or taking a class with a local herbalist are important steps towards making sure you’re safely harvesting & using herbs.

Ep. 14 Uncovering Suppressed Histories + Reclaiming Ancient Ways of Living For A Vital Future With Max Dashu
“Those toxins don’t stay buried, especially if they’re embedded in scriptures. We have to grapple with these legacies in order to heal because those toxins keep coming back and we’re seeing that with what’s happening now in the United States. And so these are stories we need to know - we need to know our own story.”~ Max Dashu
Have you ever wondered... how did we get here? Where are all of the women in history books? What about the true stories that have been left out of our school curriculum and kept hidden for centuries? How about cultures and societies beyond the patriarchal paradigm... What about cultures where women were not only equal, but people were living in a non-hierarchical paradigm that actually valued the maternal and revered Mother Earth?
How different would our world be today if we still lived by these principles and ancient ways of knowing?
That’s what Max Dashu asked herself as a young woman in 1960s who dared to defy her history professors at Harvard and embark on a journey to get out of the patriarchal interpretation of women and dig up suppressed histories. What she found not only changed her own life, but provides a template for reclaiming the wisdom and vitality we seemingly lost long ago.
Max Dashu is a historian and one of the world’s leading experts on matriculture. in this episode, she shares various historical global patterns that she discovered are missing in modern times, the nature-based practices and ways of knowing that Max has seen throughout history and what Max foresees in our collective future (with her unique perspective as a historian) plus the prescient advice she gives us for how to move forward.
I love how Max weaves together mind-blowing cultural findings, historical facts, linguistic patterns, and art in her teachings... if you’re a nerd like me, get your notebooks ready and listen twice. You’re in for a treat :)
Max Dashu founded the Suppressed Histories Archives in 1970 to research and document global women's history, reflecting the full spectrum of the world's peoples. How integration of the economical, technological AND spiritual is found throughout history, yet divorced and missing in modern Western times... i.e.“living in a sacred manner”
Max found that women played a central figure in culture throughout history

The patterns that she discovered globally including Ceremonial pots in the form of breasts (theme of "life-giver") as ceremonial vessels, and pots in the shape of women

The resonant themes that Max has found in culture throughout the world and ages
How the the waters, stones, and trees were central in various cultures - “as the witches teach” through earth-based spirituality

What Max foresees in our collective future (with her unique prospective as a historian) and the prescient advice she gives us for how to move forward.
