Ep. 37 How To Bring Balance To Your Home, Health + Life Using The Art Of Feng Shui With Anjie Cho

Love this podcast? Subscribe over on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Spotify and never miss an episode!

Practicing Feng Shui is a way to have mindfulness in respect to your surroundings - all of the little details impact your wellbeing, your stress levels and how you show up in the world.” ~ Anjie Cho

Consider for a moment that everything in your environment, what I call your Sacred Ecology, plays a role in creating the conditions for growing the YOU that stands as yourself today and the future (whether we like it or not)… While it may not feel like it initially, this is a highly empowering thing to grasp.

Why? Because now YOU get to check and cultivate an ecology that you desire so you can thrive TODAY and tomorrow. It’s never too late to change our story... And that’s why creating holistic spaces is critical for our wellbeing.

Our guest today Anjie Cho, green architect, feng shui expert, and author of Holistic Spaces, says that through observing and shifting the built environment, feng shui (an ancient Asian art of placement) teaches us how to live in harmony with nature. Feng shui adjustments can bring balance to your home, health and life because the principles are founded upon cycles and patterns of nature and ancient knowledge.

Today in our conversation with Anjie, we cover what feng shui actually means and it’s importance related to creating a holistic home. Anjie shares about her journey from exhaustion starting her own business and the big leaps she committed to making that led to greater ease and success in her career

She breaks down the foundational principles of Feng Shui including the Bagua map, themes, elements, colors, and gives us tips on how to boost the area of nourishment, wealth, and prosperity with small tweaks in your home space.

This was such a fun and illuminating interview with lots of easy and practical tips, PLUS we are having a Feed Your Wild x Holistic Spaces giveaway!

Ep. 36 NOVEMBER :: Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Find Your RHYTHM + Be the Dancing Rocks

Solo Episode: NOVEMBER 2018 :: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Find Your RHYTHM + Be the Dancing Rocks

About Monthly Soul Nourishment Readings: Just as I weave in spiritual nourishment from the Akashic Records for my clients along with their nutritional protocols on an individual basis, I’ve been inspired to start sharing these readings monthly in the podcast to support the collective with general monthly themed-readings... and so Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Readings were born. These readings are usually filled with metaphor & symbols, so may require a bit of unraveling & might mean something different for each person, so pay attention to what comes up for you as you listen on. Hope they provide value and moments of reflection in your journey.

The message for November is: “Allow yourself to be the dancing rock... to have the will to take action yet to be fully present and anchored in the now.

Can you dance from that essence that is beyond the separate Self, and instead from a place of ultimate Unity? That is our work in November.

In this Akashic reading, we are guided through a 2-part session because... it was, let’s say “non-linear”.

This month, the stars, rocks, and plants are speaking to us and initiating an activation - a remembering, a deprogramming, a transmission... from Mama Earth and the stars. They will help us remember how to breathe, how to move, how to be in RHYTHM, so that we can speak on behalf of the plants, and ourselves as living interconnected beings.

We cover the concept of petrification, the energetics of limestone and how we can embody this in our dance of life. We are told how to find the antidote to the heavy, lower vibrations that we’ve been exposed to (esp this past October!). We’re also given an invitation to connect with a plant ally this month.

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The Stars guiding us like our compass, navigation guidance system, and map + the cosmos as the great unifier - we all see the same stars, moon and sun.

  • How the stars, rocks, and plants are speaking to us… awakening rock people from their slumber..

  • How Limestone has been talking to Venessa and what it’s saying...

  • Limestone’s energetics and relationship with animals and bone - and what that has to do with you

  • “Limestone though it stimulates the will to action, keeps one firmly anchored in the here and now.”

  • The concept of Petrification, its use throughout mythology, and how it impacts us today

  • Allow ourselves to be the dancing rocks, to have the will to take action yet to be fully present and anchored in the now

  • Plants growing up and taking hold of us... and how we are being directed by the stars and planets.

  • How the elements are helping us remember how to breathe, how to move, how to be in RHYTHM. So we can speak on behalf of the plant, and ourselves as living interconnected beings.

  • Allowing the plants, rocks, and stars to dance through us

  • Finding the antidote to the heavy, lower vibration that enters your being. “They Exist in polarity, opposites are an illusion. Its all a dance.”

Action Idea:

  • Choose 1 plant and connect with this plant daily for one full week (and full month of November if you can!). Keep a journal about your experience and the messages you receive through this process!

  • Ways to connect: plant sits, medicine making, tea drinking, eating in meals, communing in any way

Ep. 34 Holotropic Breathwork & Re-sacralizing the World (Within + Without) with James Frazier

In order for us to re-sacralize the world, we have to really get back in touch with the sense of sacred within, and it can also be done by getting a sense of sacred without.” ~ James Frazier

I’m happy to share this interview audio from my archives with James Frazier, who led me in my first holotropic breathwork experience several years ago. James is one of the most experienced breathwork practitioners in the country having led Breathwork seminars throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. James has over 30 years of experience in the field of counseling and personal growth and development consulting, having studied under Dr. Stanislav Grof who developed holotropic breathwork and was in the first group to be certified by Dr. Grof to practice.

In this interview we discuss what holotropic breathwork is and why it is so powerful, James’ experience studying with Dr. Stanislav Grof and over 30 years leading workshops, plus James breaks down the history of our disconnection from nature - and what we need to do to get it back in order to save ourselves and the planet.

This conversation goes DEEP, looking at the erosion of myth in our culture, the rise of rationality and the origins of what James calls our “collective schizophrenia” that we must breakthrough in order to create a new story (hint: we need to do both our inner work and connect with nature today!)

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • How James almost quit being a therapist after poor outcomes within addiction work and found holotropic breathwork by accident, changing the course of his life

  • How James began studying and working with Dr. Stanislav Graf and Holotropic breathwork after the 2nd most powerful experience of his life, and continued a 30+ year long career of doing holotropic breathwork

  • Why holotropic breathwork is a powerful and safe way for accessing the subconscious and expanded states of consciousness/awareness while also retaining ego awareness

  • One of the oldest techniques to go into non-ordinary states of consciousness and how it has been a part of human practices for thousands of years

  • Why taking a medicinal plant out of its culture and insert it into a different place and context is problematic

  • What is “Participatory consciousness” - looking at oneself as part of the whole cosmos rather than a detached separate observer position, operating as one unit

  • James’s theory on the origin of separation from nature, ritual, and the spiritual with literalization of religious text through the protestant reformation

  • The origins of capitalism and collapse of the mythological worldview

  • How the ancients viewed the stars and great philosophical issues

  • How the Psyche speaks in myth, story and symbol

  • The detriment of Descartes’ statement “I think therefore I am.”

  • The erosion of myth and rise of rationality - how this created a “collective schizophrenia” detaching ourselves from nature in service of capitalism

  • How this separation has bled into allopathic healthcare system with specialization and over-compartmentalization

  • The “thingification” of humans and the importance of expanded states of awareness that brings you back to wholeness

  • The importance of individual inner work and personal development for the collective and how James is dedicated to supporting people in cultivating that reconnection with nature

  • The important cycles that we have closed off from our awareness - death and rebirth, the importance of grief

  • How our inability to grieve also prevents us from connecting to nature

  • Why we don’t connect with our deepest selves because it takes us to our deepest and painful issues such as grief

  • James thoughts on re-storying and the critical importance of initiatory processes and rites of passages that have been lost to our detriment

  • How we “need to go way out and we need to go way in”, and why creation myth does just that

  • James’ urgent message: “We’re either going to transform or we are going to die”

  • Veriditas - the greening of nature

  • The importance of changing the sense of self to combat the tidal wave of narcissism we have today and support our reconnection to nature

  • More about James’ work and offerings in nature and personal growth

Ep. 33 Reclaiming Our Erotic Energy, Consciousness Expanding Plant Magic & Mamahood with Riyana Rose Sang

What’s your relationship to your erotic energy? How do you even feel about that question? What stories pop up for you?

These are questions that Riyana Rose Sang is asking and wanting all of us to consider... especially for the empowerment of womyn and marginalized people in these tumultuous times.

Riyana Rose is an herbalist, counselor, mama, writer, and all-around witchy woman devoted to the magic of seasonal living and all things transformative. She thinks of herself as a mystical witch, and adores experiential, ecstatic, direct experience of the Divine and guiding others to get there, too, through the tools she teaches and the rituals she helps create. She is devoted to teaching about connection to nature through our relationships with the green ones, animals, and the fey, and utilizing ritual technologies such as aspecting, trance, and devotion that empower us move out of our minds and into connection with spirit.

In her private practice, Riyana works extensively with issues of the heart and womb, including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, infertility, and pregnancy and postpartum challenges.

In this interview, we talk about how essential it is to reclaim our erotic energy as part of the collective evolution of our time, and ways we can begin to do that. Riyana shares her journey with her own erotic energy, through pregnancy and post-partum, and her favorite plant and mushroom allies to support ourselves in times of stress and expand our consciousness as we’re being called to step more deeply into our own sovereignty and power to speak our truth and be heard and respected.

I absolutely loved this conversation, full of practical magic, thought-provoking questions and a look inside Riyana’s personal journey as a mama, witch, and force of nature.

  • How Riyana sees erotic energy as our birthright - when we know that desire and pleasure are apart of who we are, we can tap into this energy and empower ourselves to create

  • How helping ppl reclaim their erotic energy and relationship to it is part of the collective evolution of our time that is needed and essential work right now

  • Erotic energy and empowerment related to physical manifestations such as rampant thyroid issues, cardiovascular disease, and reproductive challenges

  • Riyana’s favorite herb and plant allies that can support our stress response: adaptogens including ashwaghanda, shatavari (she with a thousand husbands), mushrooms (reishi, chaga, turkey tail, all of them!) to be grounded and expansive at the same time.

  • How becoming a clearer channel by cleaning out your and reducing what might be hijacking your brain, what “spell are you under”?

Ep. 32 Why You Need to Eat Weeds: Serving Up Wild Foods, Invasive Species + Truth with Sunny Savage

Did you know your average weed found in a densely populated industrial urban area - think Chicago or Oakland - is not only safe to eat, but more nutritious than kale in almost every way?

That’s what new research is saying coming out of Berkeley and what Sunny Savage - a wild foods advocate who weaves a web of appreciation for the wild things - has been teaching and spreading for 2 decades…

In this interview, Sunny shows us how eating One Wild Food Every Day can make a significant impact on your health and the health of the planet. Why invasive species aren't always a bad thing if we can put them on our plates, and steps you can take to begin your wild food nutrition and foraging adventure NO MATTER where you live.

We dive deep into the importance of doing this with your family and children, and how to begin, and Sunny goes deep into looking at our collective and personal addictions,

Sunny’s passion is awesome and has such incredible knowledge on wild foods and how they offer us a powerful tool to reconnect us back with nature with a genetic instruction packet with their intelligence, resilience and adaptability that will save us.

I love any discussion that starts to break down these preconceived notions or programming that we have as a collective and tears that down so we can start reimagining what a new life-giving regenerative world actually looks like. I believe wild foods, foraging and eating weeds is part of this new world. When we begin to look thru this lens we can see just how abundant our world really is... I know you’re going to enjoy Sunny’s fire throughout this discussion!

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • How she got into wild foods through her own mom’s interest in herbal medicine and found her soul calling and a deep remembrance

  • Why Sunny was pissed when she first discovered wild foods and how it cracked open an ability to see the world through a new lens

  • Her journey from Antarctica to Hawaii and how the Hawaii islands have practically every kind of ecosystem

  • How Sunny went from growing up in wild rural isolated land to getting her own television show and teaching around the world

  • How Sunny has traveled to every content before she was 30 yrs old and how this exposure impacted her work

  • Her work with wild food plants of Hawaii and running a food truck serving invasive species that’s over 90% local wild foods and 100% organic

  • What is an “invasive species” and why Sunny is educating and literally serving up food for thought

  • Humans as an “invasive species” and how we shape our food and world

  • Why it’s an exciting time to talk about wild foods, and why Sunny says it’s time for a reframe

  • The Energy exchange by picking your own food - ask permission before harvesting

  • Surprising and powerful new research on wild foods within low income industrial urban areas with elevated levels of heavy metals in soil

  • The wild greens in these areas were abundant - more nutritious than kale in all ways and that none of the pesticides were coming through the plants, and how Sunny sees this as the plants evolving

  • These plants are on the front lines of evolution with an innate adaptive intelligence

  • After working with thousands of people helping them wild food, Sunny sees that some people are just better at pattern recognition with plants than others

  • The importance of personal responsibility and steps you can take to begin your wild food nutrition and foraging adventure NO MATTER where you live!

  • Read books. Find a teacher. Join local groups. Sunny lists some of her favorite books and researchers. Always cross reference, double triple check everything

  • How to start eating wild foods - take a small amount, see how you feel. Eat the rainbow. Doctor up your food - get creative! Stay open.

  • You only need to learn 10 plants and they can serve you for a lifetime

  • What is feeding Sunny’s wild that is NOT actually “wild food” and she shares the incredible story of Milarepa - “Act as if you have no cause to be ashamed of yourself

  • Working on her own personal addictions and the importance of looking at addiction in our society

This Episode's Theme...

#UNFILTERED Moon Musings :: New Moon in Libra :: Air Alchemy, Changing Winds, & Feeling Safe in Transitions

Megan and Venessa discuss the themes of this New Moon in Libra and the importance of self-reflection in these shadowy and triggering times.

We talk about aligning goals with your intentions and how you want to feel, the importance of creating space for your intentions and desires to come thru - and how this usually means releasing which can bring up grief, loss, sadness in this transition (all emotional aspects of the lungs!).

We cover honoring grief in this fall time with the shedding, and how to embody elements in nature, such as the trees up-taking nutrients and storing for the rest of the season - how can we integrate this into our lives too?

Megan also shares the launch of her website Amethyst & Rose, plus she’s offering a free meal plan based on seasonal eating when you sign up for her email list - pop over and say hello!

  • How Megan finds how sobriety has helped her during transitions and with sleep

  • How family and staying connected with them has supported Venessa in feeling safe and navigating transitions

Practices + Questions to Ask Yourself/Try this New Moon // Journal Prompts

Carve out time for yourself and have a review:

  • How can I embody trees in the fall - let go of the old “leaves” and take in more nutrients thru my roots to nourish myself in darker times?

  • Where do I have challenges and what can I bring in to assist myself in these transitional times?

Ep. 30 OCTOBER :: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Extracting Light From The Muck - Becoming Shadow Transformers

Art: Paper collage by Venessa Rodriguez

Art: Paper collage by Venessa Rodriguez

Solo Episode: OCTOBER 2018 :: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Extracting Light From The Muck - Becoming Shadow Transformers

The message for October is an invitation: “It’s time to allow the shadow to move with and through us so it can be transformed.”

In this Akashic reading, we are guided through lots of symbols this month! Earthworms, dark goddesses, transformative processes, and ouroboros, oh my... the synthesis of all of it:

We need the shadow transformers, become one or support their work.

If you thought we couldn’t get any deeper... well folks, this month is an invitation to go beyond the depths of what you have gone previously and get your hands dirty...

We cover various mythological and energetic principals of death and renewal - a natural process of working with your shadow, how to begin to work with and transform your own shadows, plus some of the first places to look for your shadow (hint: triggered lately?). I recommend some ideas for rituals you can implement and work with this month to take advantage of this archetypal energy, and discuss the importance of seeking support when you DIG into the muck... this is some of the most sacred work you can do!

Love this podcast? Subscribe over on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or Spotify and never miss an episode.

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Earthworm burrows deep and allows the transformation of this putrid dark matter within it’s body, being a vehicle of transmutation. What’s notable is the importance of these beings for our existence and evolution - all the creatures that transform the decaying into life giving matter... they’re doing the dirty work and our world benefits.

  • The earthworm’s connection to snake and the symbol of ouroboros. The process of eating oneself for constant renewal. We too must do this process, do the work because shadow is coming up...

  • We’ll go through what feels heavy and like putrid sludge, and thru this digestive process it becomes rich life-giving soil full of nutrients and life force.

  • Support from the dark goddesses of death and renewal:

  • Kali - ancient hindu goddess of death and destruction, warrior goddess that represents darkness, death and renewal whose job was to destroy evil and rid the land of filth

  • Tlazolteotl, “Eater of Excrement” and of filth. An Earth and moon goddess, a purification goddess with connection to fertile earth that begins with rotting and decaying matter… She turns physical and metaphysical darkness and black waste into life

  • The Andean mystical concepts of sami (light energy) and hucha (heavy dense energy) and the process of extracting sami from hucha – within the darkness there is still light

  • The invitation we are being given to embody these dark goddesses to carry us through our individual and collective shadows

  • Where do you begin? One of the first places to look for shadow is wherever you have been procrastinating the most. That’s usually where we have shadow work to do. Or wherever you have some serious blocks. And of course, wherever and whenever you get triggered by something or someone.

  • Get curious instead of staying mad or upset or in resistance mode. Ask yourself questions. Become a detached and compassionate detective.

  • A big message that came through with this reading is also that we must stay humble!

  • The shamanistic ritual of sacred burial, an ancient tradition that has been used for many centuries for healing, renewal and transformation. It is an authentic ritual of stillness, transformation and deep communion with the spirit of the Earth.

Ideas/Tips:

  • Choose a dark goddess that calls to you and meditate with her, embody her essence in your own shadow work

  • Select an amulet or stone - a physical anchor that you can tether yourself to as you go deep with this work.

  • When you feel dense, heavy have your go-to en-lighten-ing practices.

  • It’s ok, in fact, good to wade in the darkness for periods, but we can embody earth worm.

  • We don’t have to remember or recall or relive actual events or moments - that actually would do more harm than good. Instead, we can use vibration and our feeling sense and imagination to identify the heaviness that we can release or transmute.

  • Frequency to break up heavy matter - look to sound healing, heart vibration meditations

  • Don’t allow the fear to drive.

Ep. 28 How to Go From Confusion + Burn Out --> Clarity, Pleasure + Purpose: Uncovering Ancient Wisdom for Impactful Leadership With Ashley Burnett

How do you lead in a strong and sustainable way, in life and career, from a place of alignment... without being drained of energy or burning out?

How do you cut thru the noise and maintain connection to your intuition and inner guidance in times of extreme stress and chaos?

That’s what Ashley Burnett had to figure out in her business and life after years of struggle with her health, as an entrepreneur and facing “life or death” moments in her personal life.

In this insightful conversation, Ashley shares how imperative it is to shift out the paradigm of “grinding and burn out” to embrace our true nature, and live + lead from a balanced and well-nourished place (and how the heck to do that).

We talk about the power of incorporating nature-based ritual, sacred ceremony + self-care into our daily lives and work, and the importance of setting intention, working with a coach, and surrounding yourself with ppl who support your vision. Ashley shares how she was able to maintain connection to her intuition and wisdom throughout some pretty scary events (hint: trust, lift + shift), and the game-changing question that her own coach asked her that blasted her limiting beliefs and made her 3-year vision come into reality within 9 months.

So much wisdom here for busy entrepreneurs, mamas, burnt out leaders, or anyone desiring to live and work from a place of sustainability and alignment!

Women’s leadership coach, dancer, women’s circle and retreat facilitator and earth-based ritualist, Ashley Burnett is committed to helping change-making entrepreneurs and leaders align their core-values with their vision, become more impactful leaders, and embody their missions in life, with confidence. Ashley has been teaching, leading groups and running her business for over 15 years. She’s facilitated hundreds of classes, workshops, events and retreats, and led thousands around the globe in expanding their businesses and igniting their leadership. Ever feel like you're "on track, but off purpose"?

This was the heavy feeling that Dr. Emelia Sam experienced as she was set on course to achieving all the things that she was "supposed" to achieve. In this intimate conversation, Emelia reveals how playing the good girl was a disservice... and it took major deconstructing of who she thought she was to find her true self. We talk about the process of E.D.I.T.ing your story to recover alignment in your life, practical spirituality, the power of resonance + magnetism, and the need for compassionate competency within healthcare.

Within the first few years of professional life, Emelia realized something was amiss and started to recover the passions she left behind. For over a decade, she has maintained a blog, now known as 360SOUL, concerned with matters of mind and spirit.

Emelia is also gifting FYW listeners her Soul Infusion Kit, check it out below!

Dr. Emelia Sam hails from Edmonton, Canada. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at home she moved to Washington DC to attend dental school. Two years later, she realized she pretty much hated general dentistry but felt she was too far down that particular educational path to abandon it. She ended up being drawn towards the specialty of oral & maxillofacial surgery which required a four-year residency.

Emelia has published several books including I Haven't Found Myself but I'm Still Looking and The Book of Soulgasms. Her latest book, Compassionate Competency: Healing the Heart of Healthcare represents the intersection of her experience as a practitioner with her long-time interests in personal development and spirituality.

Megan and Venessa discuss the themes of this New Moon in Virgo on September 9, 2018: Change, structure, and how we get to shape change...

All that you touch you change. All that you change changes you. The only lasting truth is change. God is change.” ~ Octavia Butler

This month is all about looking at what needs to be in place to navigate change, and supporting the structures that allow us to “shape change” on all levels...

Ep. 25 Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: SEPTEMBER :: Slide into Rhythms with Conscious Awareness

Solo Episode: Monthly Akashic Soul Nourishment Reading :: Sliding into September + Unseen Ecologies That Support Us

The message for September is Slide into Rhythms with Conscious Awareness

Moving with the current. Smooth sailing, on a slippery slide, the hard stone to support us and the soft growth that cushions, no apparatus but our own bodies and open hearts. Sliding down these natural stone waterslides...

This is the energy of September. TRANSITIONS. Sliding into a natural current and flow, a time of transition and movement, and being awake for it... we are called to notice and pay attention to the ecologies that support us in our journeys.

Are you resisting or enjoying the ride? The Akashic guides say resisting change is futile, so you might as well be present for the beauty and open to the medicine of joy.

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

Stay awake and present. Make conscious decisions.

Be sure you make a conscious decision to slide. It can be dangerous and terrifying if you aren't “prepared” mentally, emotionally, having safety precautions in mind and excitement in heart to experience the exhilarating joy and playful experience.

There is no stopping the slide flow once it gets going. And that’s the point.

Enjoy the ride down, you can hear the laughing and joyful voices ahead of you at the bottom but you cant see them. Element of trust, anticipation, precaustion, common sense, willingness to take a risk with an open heart

Open up the senses feel the support beneath you, the way the slippery wet surface caresses your skin - feels soothing and protective, the spectacular view of the landscape, plants, insects, growth, death, cycles, LIFE as you slide down. Savor it. Be present for it. Breathe. Sliding down into the calm, steady pools below.

The unseen ecology that supports you.

What makes it slippery? What is the coating that we take for granted?

An ecology... if you look under a microscope, you would see a community of diatoms, blue-green and green algaes, amoebas, single-celled organisms, bacteria, fungi, and lots of organic matter.

We’re being called to open up all of our senses, and notice the ecosystems that are around you and support you. This is on all levels - physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically.

Physical - this is the ecology within and on your body, the organ systems, cells, cellular structures, mitochondria, and of course your microbiome.

Then there are the ecologies that are outside of you but that are still connected to you. The living beings like the community that holds you up as you slide down this natural stone. The air you breathe, food you eat, what were the ecologies that make all of that possible?

And of course, there are the nonphysical - your relationships, family constellations, thoughts and feelings, the ecology of your subconscious. And let’s not forget your guides, ancestors, angels, any nonphysical beings or energies that support you, and that we often forget are there.

Natural current of flow.

Ep. 24 Healing, Evolving and Re-wilding with Tarot: Aligning with Your Soul’s Truth with Lindsay Mack

Soul Tarot is a humble reinterpretation of The Tarot as an evolutionary tool, one that can help us to align with our soul's truth, our inner compass, and our innate wildness... This is an unlearning, a reconnection, a re-wilding: it is tarot for a new consciousness. ~ Lindsay Mack, www.lindsaymack.com

One of the many ways humans throughout history have consulted with the numinous, the All, or God is through divination with sacred tools. Whether you’ve been steeped in the occult practices for years or if you’re a newbie, divination is a way to begin exploring our intuitive self, a container to develop a language, a relationship and way of working with a wisdom that is reflected back to us.

As the founder of Tarot for the Wild Soul and Wild Soul Healing, Lindsay Mack shares how she works with tarot as a divination tool personally and how her health changed and shifted by working with tarot around some of her health issues. She gives advice around giving your power away and steps you can take to gain back your power working with tarot.

Lindsay shares the keys to having a tarot practice that best works for you and gives us an epic break down of the Death card, busting the biggest myths and misconceptions about tarot.

Lindsay also gives sage advice for anyone interested in getting into tarot to support their own healing journey, as well as how she got through her severe complex PTSD from childhood trauma, and the various modalities and practitioners that have helped her along the way.

Plus Lindsay is offering a special gift for Feed Your Wild listeners, so check that out below!

Ep. 22 The Story Our Trash Tells: Zero Waste Living with Andrea Sanders

Our trash tells a story... a story about what we value. ~ Andrea Sanders

What does your trash say about you, and our society at large? What if all of the waste that you accumulate throughout the year could fit inside a mason jar... what would be the impact of that on our environment and what would it mean for us in terms of how we choose to live?

These are the questions that Andrea Sanders asked herself that led her on the path as a young environmentalist grappling with the extensive ecological damage that she was witnessing... and her place in it.

I really wanted to bring in the topic of waste, consumption and the zero waste lifestyle movement, because i believe it is critical for our overall health - all beings and the planet - to look at the way we live and how we consume.

Andrea tells us how she got inspired and started on her path with zero waste living, and many of the biggest obstacles we face today. She talks about the concept of “biomindfulness” - exploring practices that help us focus our attention back on relationships we hold between ourselves and our environment. We touch on the importance of space and pause when you’re making any kind of lifestyle shift, and Andrea shares what she believes the sweet spot between the hardship of our ancestors and the ultra convenience we have today (but at the expense of the health of our planet).

Of course she also shares the practices that support the reshaping of our relationships with nature and practical steps you can take if you want to move toward a zero waste lifestyle.

There is so much here that you can hit the ground running with!

Andrea Sanders is an environmental educator, mindfulness advisor, TEDx speaker, traveler, artist, and dog mom. Her work focuses on encouraging ecological responsibility, day-to-day mindfulness, and compassionate eating through a plant-based diet. Andrea is also a zero waste influencer and educator on Instagram with a global outreach of over 80,000 followers.

Enjoy!

  • Andrea shows us how our own perception and mindset are part of the issue

  • Why mindfulness meditation is a critical part of the work that andrea does with zero waste teachings

  • How pausing is the first step - why we need to create space for looking at our relationship to “stuff”

  • The importance of our WHY and how we have to learn how to be less distracted from the things that are pulling our attention from action

  • The concept of Biomindfulness - exploring practices that help us focus our attention back on relationships we hold between ourselves and our environment

  • The importance of space and pause when you’re making any kind of lifestyle shift

  • Practices that support the reshaping of our relationships with nature

  • First step is awareness that we have a problem

  • How to begin a zero waste lifestyle... starting with waste: Doing a trash audit. Look at what you’re going away and what can you reduce

  • Low hanging fruit actions:

    1. Bringing your own bags and produce bag to grocery store

    2. Taking your own cup or water bottle to places

    3. Meal prepping each week

    4. Use bulk section

    5. Make your own cleaners

    6. Looking at things in a different way and how you use stuff

    7. Making small changes that make sense for you and family

    8. Look at your consumption - can you replace boredom with a walk , swap activities out that are more meaningful and bring more value in your life in place of consumption

    9. Build a relationship with your food. Learn about where your food comes from - and ask if it aligns with what you believe in. if it doesn’t, cut it out or create something else.

  • The biggest challenges Andrea sees and hears when people try to change, and how she has learned to embrace change

  • What andrea calls “quiet activism” and how that’s been WAY more effective at sharing than raising your voice loudly or preaching

Ep. 20 Navigating The Stars And Talking To Dead People: Astrology + Mediumship With Jessica Lanyadoo

“Your soul does not reside in your body, instead your body resides within your soul. The body is an articulation of the soul’s lessons.”
– Jessica Lanyadoo

In this episode, I’m excited to be speaking with Jessica Lanyadoo, an internationally respected Astrologer and Psychic Medium, who is currently the resident astrologer for Girlboss and The Hoodwitch in the US, and Chatelaine in Canada.

We talk about the reasons behind the recent explosion of astrology into mainstream and how medical astrology can help us understand how to live better in our physical body, plus tips on how to embody information received thru astrology without getting overwhelmed.

We also talk about psychic mediumship and animal communication - how Jessica discovered her intuitive gifts and what happens when we die according to her experience talking with dead people, plus how to talk to animals.

Jessica shares words of advice for people who want to support their own intuition and abilities, including the vital importance of spiritual and energetic hygiene.

This was such a fun interview, but there are a few places with some sound tech weirdness. It’s not terrible – just wanted to give you a head’s up. And yes, we recorded right at the start of Mercury retrograde because we are daredevils like that, so perhaps that’s what we get. We survived and thank goodness we did because this interview is going to blow your esoteric socks off. Enjoy!

  • Who Jessica considers to be her “Beyonce” of astrology

  • Jessica's advice for folks looking to get into astrology seriously

Ep. 19 Becoming a Master of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q'ero of Peru + Andean Cosmovision with Joan Parisi Wilcox

The art of being a paqo is to always be in conscious ayni - energetic interchange - in the cosmos of living energy. The art of being a paqo is to become an ecologist of your energy environment.~ Joan Parisi Wilcox, QentiWasi.com

What if you could experience "heaven on Earth," without the use of mind-altering psychotropics or disembodied experiences? The Andean mystical tradition is a pragmatic sacred tradition that teaches us how to live in this way - providing tools for living in harmony with nature and the spirit realms, with a primary goal to live with well-being in the embodied world, empower your energy body, and refine your consciousness.

Joan Parisi Wilcox has studied the tradition and spiritual arts of the Q'ero Indians of Peru, the most respected mystics of the south-central Andes, for more than twenty years under the tutelage of Juan Nuñez del Prado and has been interviewed in documentary films about the tradition. In this episode, Joan gives us an overview of the Andean cosmovision, we talk about salqa - the “undomesticated or wild” energy in relation to this cosmovision, and how to refine our energy body so that we can “push the kawsay”, or manifest with the living animating energy of the cosmos.

She shares core practices that you can use when you need them wherever and whenever, and gives insight into the importance of intention in this energy work along with her sage advice for committing to your personal evolution.

Joan provides insights into an ancient wisdom that can help those of us living in a modern society re-discover our own wild, find attunement with nature and harmony within ourselves.

Joan is a professional writer with interests in frontier science, shamanism and mysticism, and indigenous traditions. She is the author of Masters of the Living Energy: The Mystical World of the Q’ero of Peru as well as 2 other books. She has written dozens of magazine articles, been interviewed on radio, lectured at conferences in the US and Europe, is a transformational coach and teaches workshops across the US on the Andean mystical tradition. You can learn more about the Andean mystical tradition at her website/blog www.QentiWasi.com.

Show Notes

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Joan's trajectory through various traditions including spiritual church, intuition + mediumship studies, Native American and Buddhist traditions, shamanic traditions and journeying, and Andean Mystical tradition

  • How she was very attracted to the Andean pragmatism and practical tradition - all about being the “best human being that you could be in the human world”

  • Salqa - a Quechua word for the “undomesticated or wild” energy of the world

  • Joan gives us an overview of the Andean cosmovision and the major “belts”

  • Quayi lives in our belly, qosqo (navel) - the place of emotion, and how Andeans make distinction between feelings (compassion, love) and emotions (worry, happiness, jealousy, passion, etc)

  • Personal power and the fact that we all have the energetic, emotional, physical capacity to put our intent into action

  • What does “pushing the Kawsay”, the living animating energy of the cosmos, mean and how we can do it

  • How we can influence the world of living energy through our intent because Energy must follow intent, plus how there’s a little bit of chance, novelty and randomness that also exist in the Universe

  • If you don’t have “personal power” or energetic coherence, you wont be able to manifest or "push the Kawsay"

  • How to Cleanse our energy body plus the 3 practices to move through the levels of energy and the different levels of consciousness

  • Joan shares core practices that you can use when you need them wherever/whenever, including a 10 minute exercise, and talks about sami (refined vibration energy) and hucha (heavy energy)

  • What are ultimate goal is in this human experience, according to the Andean tradition

  • How anyone can do this work and Joan debunks the myth that you have to get “the ritual right”

  • "We’re not trying to slay the ego, we’re trying to create harmony with it."

  • What Joan says is the biggest "trap" at the 3rd level of consciousness

  • The 4th level is "global consciousness and Oneness," and how we are growing into it with growing pains - this is the level of the mystic, where you can see past the signs, boundaries, etc. You can "find God in all" aside from the human constructs

  • Why we never want to be in a stance of “protection” from “evil” energies or dark entities

  • The misconception around “energy vampires” and how “no one can enter your energy body without your invitation”

  • "There’s nothing that can hurt you except the fear that you project out onto energy - energy is just energy"

  • Manifestation laws according to the Q'ero and how “the universe will give you whatever you choose, and what you have the personal power to manifest, to move the Kawsay in that direction”

  • Joan’s advice for committing to your evolution and how to steer clear from “shiny object syndrome”
